I had my nipple pierced about 5 or so years ago however I don't think its healed. It still has quite abit of discharge coming out of it and its still quite sore to touch.
Any advice on healing it up. I don't want to take it out
Thanks

Bath it everyday in that solution stuff they sell. Mine healed really quickly. Dont let anyone suck on it for a good while as that will just cause infection again.

Its been quite long ago I cant actually remember what they told me to use. I though maybe dilute TCP into warm water and clean the area twice a day?

5 years and its still not healed?
Give it a go with the saline or diluted tcp for a
week, if no change try and get an appointment with the nurse at your doctors surgery. They will be able to advise on cleaning etc.If I were in your shoes though, I'd take it out. Let it heal up and just get another one done if I felt I couldn't live without it, and make sure I looked after the next one to prevent it getting infected.

Its not as bad as what it was when I first got it done. I think that piercing on my take longer to heal than others my ears took ages to heal when I was a child but my belly and my tongue healed fine.
Ive looked online at Boots and the only saline solution I can find is for contacts....is that ok or should I use something else
I want to at least give it a chance. I did what they advised when I got it done but that hasn't worked. Im just concerned about it now

Just mix some salt with boiling hot water let it cool a bit and then clean it. You don't need to go out and buy saline.

Flush it with Saline solution every day.
I would also consider changing your piercing, after 5 years it definitely should of healed so it is possible that you are allergic or overly sensitive to the material currently fitted. -

Presumably you have some piece of metal stuck through the piercing? If so, could you be allergic to it? Maybe you'd be better to remove it and let the wound (for that's what it is) heal?

Don't remove the bar/ring if you want to keep the piercing open. Flush with saline twice a day and get some Fucibet antibiotic cream from the doc to clear any infection. This healed my daughter's ear in jig time.

I don't think this is going to heal....it sounds like the wound is chronically infected with the occasional acute flare up...Studs/piercings penetrate the skins protective epidermis layer and their success relies on the formation of a scar/fibrous tissue to protect the underlying connective tissue(dermal/hypo dermal layers) from infection...The protective scar tissue has't formed properly and this means the underlying tissues are in direct contact with the shaft of the stud...bacteria track down the surface of the stud and infect the deeper layers of the skin.
I know you don't want to remove the stud but after 5 yrs of grumbling low grade infections I think you might have to accept defeat on this one...check out Staphylococcus skin infections....However if you really want to keep the stud at all costs then I would suggest a visit to the Doctor...they will probably advise removal as well but if you ask nicely they may prescribe a course of antibiotics/or antibiotic cream and give advice re cleaning/changing stud...Antibiotics will deal with any acute infection but will have no affect on the underlying cause..ie..a piercing...so the symptoms may subside after antibiotics but the wound will almost certainly become reinfected...but luck may favour you and the would could heal if the underlying infection is successfully treated

You want to see pictures of infected and possibly puss filled nipples? Perhaps you could do the OP a favour and squeeze the puss out for her? Pick off the scabs and puss crust too if that's what you're in to. Bask in the smell of infection.
I'm afraid to ask what other things you're in to.

I read that it is quite common for nipple piercings to never heal properly. The depth of the piercing can make a difference, i.e. is it through the actual nipple itself or deeper than that. It is not necessarily infected. I had mine done for about 10 years, one healed, the other didn't, and one was deeper than the other. Since taking them out, the one that healed has dot scars on either side and you can tell it was pierced. The one that didn't heal has gone completely back to normal. My advice would be to take it out, let it heal fully (probably 6 months or longer) and get it redone if you want. Also probably good to ask a body piercing expert about it.

Propolis is amazing stuff, it's natural and heals all cuts, infections etc. It's nature's most natural and effective anti biotic you can find. buy it from a health shop and make sure it is a good quality one with a high concentrate. Bees make it to keep their hives clean and it has great medical uses for us. My friend came to visit with a belly button piercing that was still infected a year on. Three days of propolis, three times a day and she was healed. I used it when had tonsilitus, I cleaned out the white yuck and dripped this on them, all gone in three days. I can't rave enough about this stuff.

Mine took 2 years to heal, I nearly gave up! Just keep it clean and maybe see about going down the antibiotic route. I remember how sore mine was so I don't envy you.
I did Google nipple piercings and it did say they can take a long time to heal but I didn't appreciate how long!

Its not that bad!
its just abit of discharge and sore its not puss filled or smelling
Ive brought some tcp which I will add to warm water and clean the area. I want to atleast give it a go, it clearly didn't heal properly first time round

Any discharge from your breast should be seen by a doctor. 5 years on related to a tattoo? Really? Why would you leave something that long?

Although not a nipple piercing, I had a similar problem with my tragus piercing, it wouldn't heal, or it would have cycles of looking ok then flaring up. I used Savlon spray in it, and as weird as it sounds, my piercer recommended "feminine hygiene wash" as it didn't contain soap. However what seemed to do the trick was going back to my piercer and having the jewellery changed from a bar to a ring. It started to heal properly almost overnight, because the ring allowed for more movement and it could be cleaned easier. If I were you I'd pop back to your piercer for some advice and maybe think abut swapping the jewellery.

Are you allergic to nickel? I am and have to make sure all my jewellry is nickel-free. I had a piercing the top of my ear that was always sore (not infected, just painful) and didn't stop until I changed it.

no allergies as far as I am aware. My belly bar and tongue bar both healed fine.
you might be right about getting the bar changed, its always seemed to look abit small for the nipple, maybe that's effecting the healing? I think I might pop in and speak to the tattooist tonight after work.

Is it the original peircing? Im not expert but each time ive had a piercing ive been told the one they initially put in has to be too big. Once its healed i can put a smaller bar etc in.
