Mary Grace Mitchell, who graced us with her presence from 1950 until her passing on December 21, 2025, quietly departed this world on a bright winter's day. The sun illuminated the snow, making it shimmer beautifully, as she found peace and relief from a long battle with pain.
She was the beloved daughter of Jeannette and Donald Mitchell, both of whom have passed away. Mary was also a cherished sister to James (Eileen), the late Robert (Pat), the late Gloria Chaimbrone (the late Michael), the late Shirley Fecteau (the late Claude), Margaret MacMillan (the late Gordon), Leila (Harry) Koskenoja, and Terence (Donna). Known affectionately as "Moonie," she was a special aunt to Lindsay and Jay, who brought immense joy to her life, especially during their cherished moments over Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Their bond was one filled with love, and her absence will be profoundly felt. Additionally, Mary shared a special connection with her dear "Haircutting" buddy, Kane Emlaw, who frequently visited her, bringing treats and occasionally McDonald's hamburgers, all accompanied by his warm smile. Her affection for him was boundless. Mary is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew her, particularly Leila.
Mary had a passion for sports, especially cheering for her Ottawa Senators and enjoying curling, particularly following Rachel Homan's team. In fact, she had a love for all sports and was an avid fan of Motown music, which added rhythm to her life.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Booth, Dr. O’Brien, Dr. Rawn, and Kim Greenwood N.P., along with the compassionate staff at ARCH for the exceptional care they provided.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, cremation has been carried out.
For those wishing to honor her memory, memorial donations can be made to ARCH, either via cheque or online contributions.
