In a significant move for Ghana's industrial landscape, the Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), which serves as the nation's primary aluminium smelter based in Tema, recently convened its inaugural strategic meeting with management. This gathering, led by H.E. Ambassador Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah, marked a pivotal moment in aligning the Board's vision with the operational strategies of the company.
The meeting offered an invaluable platform for the Board to delve into essential topics related to VALCO's operations, administration, and strategic goals. The focus was on enhancing the company's performance and fulfilling its vital role within Ghana’s manufacturing sector.

Since its establishment in 1967, VALCO has been a cornerstone of Ghana’s industrialization efforts, tied closely to the Volta River Project and the Akosombo Dam. It is currently under the ownership of the Government of Ghana through the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC).
As a vital part of the nation’s integrated aluminium industry, VALCO plays a critical role in transforming local bauxite into value-added aluminium products for both local consumption and export markets. Plans for substantial modernization and expansion are also underway, aimed at reinforcing VALCO's stature in the industry.
For almost sixty years, VALCO has steadfastly supported Ghana's ambition to cultivate a comprehensive and integrated aluminium sector, making it a key player in the country's economic narrative.
